2014 in Chablis was something special. Talented producers made superb, classic juice; so here are a few favorites that truly exemplify this special vintage:

Savary Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2014 Olivier and Francine have been making wine in Chablis since 1984, but in 1990, the legendary Jean Marie Raveneau introduced Olivier to US importer, Kermit Lynch Savary’s is a pure, terroirdriven style; and in 2014, they made outstanding, focused, classic Chablis. Coming from 35 year old vines grown on Kimmeridgian limestone, the wine offers a classic saline nose, coupled with bright orchard fruits, subtle honeycomb; and an elegant mouth-feel that exudes both grace and power due to time on-fine lees. $30

Moreau Naudet Chablis 2014 Stéphane Moreau may be very young but he’s already been making wine for more than a decade and that he possesses a gifted touch is evident to anyone who has had the pleasure of tasting his wines. . . . I find Moreau to be one of the most exciting young growers in Chablis and his wines are well worth the trouble to get to know if you haven’t yet tried them.” Allen Meadows of Burghound. We couldnt agree more! To put it simply, if youre a fan of mineral laden, racy Chablis, then expect to fall in love with the wines of Moreau Naudet. Moreover, Stéphane has an admirer in Vincent Dauvissat, and when you taste even his entrylevel wine, youll see why. Expect a hightoned wine, that has both cut and clarity, coupled with a texture that adds a dynamic, harmonious balance. Lastly, Moreau Naudet practices biodynamic viticulture, but you drink a classically styled Chablis. $31

Pattes Loup Chablis 2014 Again, we have another intrepid newcomer in Thomas Pico. Thomas began making wine in 2005, in the village of Courgis, just outside of Chablis, under the wing of the venerable Alice and Olivier de Moor. He then inherited 2.4 hectares of his familys estate, which he swiftly converted to organic viticulture and began reducing yields. The hard work paid off, and Thomas wines began garnering acclaim from the most discerning Chablis fans. His style is racy, crisp, and quite elegant. Additionally, his overall articulation of vineyardtobottle is some of the most impressive work that weve seen from a young Chablisienne. $37
